Introduction
The IST Physical Management Program, I.C.R-P.M Matrix, is a dynamic full spectrum integrated approach towards subject control and personal protection. The system naturally progresses throughout the use of force continuums and can be utilised by both law enforcement and private security professionals whatever their role.

What is the I.C.R Matrix?
The acronym I.C.R represents a trained course of action that can manage conflict though a working matrix of three interrelated principles; Intervention, Control and Resolution. This effective yet simple Program, which is an adaptable method of subject control and personal protection was forged through years of hands on experience. The main philosophy in the program’s design is to safely and efficiently intervene, control and effectively conclude any situation regardless of the level of resistance that the security professional may encounter during an episode of interpersonal violence.
Unlike the current prescribed Physical intervention module, the I.C.R matrix offers far more possibilities to the user of the system while still operating within the confines of the legal system.

Benifits of the I.C.R-P.M Matrix
In their particular field of operation, security professionals, be they police, military or civilian security operatives, need to work within a use of force continuum that is prescribed on a legal framework.
With these issues in mind, the I.C.R-P.M Matrix was designed towards functional tactical solutions to everyday problems for police officers, security personnel, special operation teams, hospital staff and civilians.
Through the I.C.R-P.M Matrix's complimentary approach to training, working concepts and extremely effective techniques, its unified yet open structure allows it to co-exist with systems and approaches currently in place by agencies within the U.K.
Due to this unique quality it effectively provides its users a readily accessible course of action with the ability to perform regardless of the intensity resistance encountered from the aggressor.
Once put into practice, the I.C.R-P.M Matrix will completely enable the user, within guidelines set down by the current legal framework, the means to handle any situation while using the minimum appropriate levels of force to overcome resistance as it occurs and unfolds.
Therefore, with this in mind, it is perfect program for specific modes of operation used by Police officers, security personell, armed forces and civilians alike.

Results though I.C.R-P.M Matrix
As situations unfold micro-second to micro-second, the I.C.R-P.M Matrix allows the rapid escalation and de-escalation of force as it relates to the resistance encountered via the aggressor. This flexibility allows for a consise tactical approach to meet specific threat levels as they present themselves.
The I.C.R-P.M Matrix is a proven strategic tactical approach and to engage, control, escort or neutralize threats as is required. It provides a dynamic full-spectrum approach from the verbal dialogue stage all the way through to controlling force.
A small number of techniques jointly interwoven allows the I.C.R-P.M Matrix to successfully apply to a vast number of diverse situations and achieves optimal results against threats at any level. The following is a small sampling of the stages of the I.C.R-P.M Matrix.

Intervention
All security personell are required to intervene in violent or potentially violent situations as a regular aspect of their duty. An analysis of a potentially confrontational situation is extremely important for an effective security effort.
The ability to successfully engage or physically “intervene” while minimising the risk of harm to oneself should be considered a priority. With this in mind, training in situational and spatial awareness is of the utmost importance for this to be achievable.
Control
While self explanatory, it can be easier said than done. Controling an aggressive, violent, intoxicated or drugged subject can be extremely challenging. Control techniques require a great deal of concentration on the part of the professional and adherence must be paid to current legal pre-requisites. Retaining control once gained is another important aspect of the matrix.
Resolution
Post intervention and control phases, the professional must achieve some form of resolution in order for the dangers associated with the confrontation to desist. It is everyones interest that any confrontation is resolved effectively, this helps prevent a repeat of the event and also makes the subject feel as though they have been taken seriously and treated fairer. It requires an effort on behalf of the security professional to abstain from posturing and escalating the situation as is common with un-trained individuals who usually revert back to instinctive primate behaviour, - “the monkey dance” - which only re-kindles aggression from the subject.
Resolution can be achieved in numerous ways, dependant on the situation and the role the professional has within the realm of the protective services.
Post incident this is a critical factor, the security function can be severely affected in a negative manner without this “de-brief”. It is ideally performed at the end of shift when the team have signed off for the day. The evaluation allows lessons to be learned from the incident and provides a platform for all team members to voice concerns they may have.

The I.C.R-P.M Matrix is designed for civilian and employed security personnel working in environments that require subject control, restraint, and transportation such as executive protection, hospital staff, security guards and Nightclub Security. From individual to team tactics, the system is designed to directly address the specific needs of the security guard, team, institution or business requiring the training.
